Featured Performer at the All-American Inaugural Ball, January 2009
Still swinging at age 80, Mr. Morgan is a living link to the history of jazz. His career started when he was discovered by a radio station in his native Petersburg Virginia when he was 12 years old. Having learned to play in church, he never formally studied the piano. For many years, Mr. Morgan was a fixture at the Maryland Inn in Annapolis with the likes of Charlie Byrd. Hailed by Washingtonian Magazine as the capital’s signature jazz pianist, has made dozens of recordings with such artists as Julian “Cannonball” Adderly, Etta Jones, Joe Williams, Herb Ellis, and Charlie Byrd. $25.00 Cover Charge Learn More
