AUGUST ART EXHIBITION
August 1 - 31, 2008 Doug Wise-Photographer
>>View Image
Viewing a photography exhibit of works by Doug Wise is like taking a visual tour of some of the most picturesque National Parks and forests to be found in these United States. A life-long hobbyist the former hunter now hunts with a Cannon AE-1, tripod and other tools adding a good 15 pounds to the backpack he uses on frequent trips.
He shares his rich collection (which includes shots of baby bison, mountain goats, bears, wolves and heron) in an exhibit at 49 West Coffeehouse, Winebar and Gallery from August 3 through September 3, 2008. He has seen first hand many of the creatures he studied while earning a bachelor of science degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Management at Frostburg University in 1984.The exhibit spans two decades of travel since then.
Opening reception is Sunday, August 3rd from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The Fitz-Maurice Band
8:00 PM - 9:30 AM2 SHOWS 8 & 10PM
The Fitzmaurice Band plays the entire spectrum of this traditional music from the high and lonesome sounds of Bill Monroe and old time gospel hymns to contemporary bluegrass. The band is comprised of Maria & Sarah Fitzmaurice, Brandon Snellings, Mike Simms and Ethan Hughes. Identical twins Maria & Sarah Fitzmaurice have been singing together since they were very young. Their first singing experiences were with the church choir and later at parties and family functions. Their voices (Maria’s smokey alto and Sarah’s pure, soaring soprano) blend together beautifully is sibling harmony for a “bluesgrass” sound that is uniquely their own. Maria handles the rhythm guitar for the group and Sarah has just taken over playing bass.
